MiRAA offers access to mixed reality technologies in the arts. MiRAA is a web-based academy specializing in teaching immersive technologies in a cultural context for curators, artists, gallery owners and creative tech enthusiasts. Our interviews and video courses by experts provide professional information about a meaningful and sustainable use of new technologies in exhibitions, museums, art festivals, and galleries.
Meet the founders
Julie Walsh, Independent Curator, Chicago
Julie Walsh is a Chicago-based curator with a focus on contemporary Asian art and immersive technologies. She was the founder and director of Walsh Gallery in Chicago, which from 1993 - 2011 exhibited contemporary work from Asia in all mediums. She has curated numerous exhibitions in her own space and in others around the world. Since 2016, she has focused on the fine art applications of immersive technologies. She is a founder of MIRAA Mixed Reality Academy for the Arts and artistic director if the Chicago Virtual Art Museum. She has presented at international venues including VREurope, VRHAM!, Virtual
Worlds and SAIC (Chicago). In 2021 Ms. Walsh curated the grand opening exhibition for MEET Milan’s virtual center and conducted a series of workshops on art in social VR platforms. Upcoming exhibitions include Feral File, Danae.io and Recto VRso.
Dr. Daniela Schulz, VR Producer, Berlin
Daniela Schulz is a VR and 360 producer experimenting in the documentary and journalistic field, on the border between fiction and art (mediation). She supports the main department culture and life of the Deutsche Welle to implement its "Digital First" strategy competently. She regularly produces documentaries for cinematic release but is actively working on expanding the film format. She has also worked on feature film projects as a creative producer.
